INTRODUCTION:
Before I answer this question, I just want to mention why I chose this topic. I was originally assigned another topic, “the meaning of life is…”, but I dropped it because it just wasn’t interesting to me. Rather than trying to think up of something that everyone should have, I wanted to start a blog that has a more personal touch, hence the topic I’m doing right now. As well, this subject has a nice twist: it changes. What’s important to me and you this week may be different the the week after or even the hour before, because life is in constant motion: our priorities change, our emotions go up and down, and our thoughts shift. Consequently, instead of a blog where everyone argues what is the most important in life, what I want to know is what is important in YOUR life.
So there you go, this is the point of this blog. I hope that the contributors can use this blog to reflect, and that readers can appreciate the richness of our UBC community.
Enjoy.
ANSWER:
What is important to me right now is actually a “who”: my older sister. She’s currently away in the States, working hard on her studies, so it’s really hard to contact her at times. When she does call back, though, it’s always a fun moment in life. We discuss current events, joke around, poke fun at each other, reminisce childhood memories… pretty much anything under the sun. And for that 10, 30, 60 minutes of the day, the world seems to hide in the shadows, scared to disturb my moment of peace. This may sound a little too much like a dream, but honestly, talking to my older sister, a trusted loving person, really saps away the stress that the world always seems to pile on my shoulder.
