Showcase

Calling all members of Peer Programs of UBC!

As part of this celebration, your Peer Program is highly encouraged to present a short 5 minute (max) showcase to your fellow peers.

This showcase can consist of anything – skit, song, dance, jokes, poetry slam, music, video, etc. – that can entertain your Peers, encapsulate your Peer Program experience, or showcase certain aspects of your Peer Program.
Discuss with your Peer Program, and then please send your showcase ideas, as well as any questions you may have, to Venice at peerprogramscelebration@gmail.com by MARCH 26, FRIDAY, 4:30pm.

Awards: Application

Organized an awesome event or project for your peer program this year?  Then apply for a Peer Program Award!

A project is defined as a planned, organized endeavor undertaken to meet specific goals and objectives that benefits the undergraduates or the peer program itself.  Events and mentorship programs are examples of projects eligible for peer program awards.

Peer Program Award Categories

Best Collaborative Project

  • At least two peer programs have worked together
  • Equal participation in organizing the project is preferable

Most Innovative Project

  • Project has not been done before in previous years
  • Project has elicited strong interest from both the peer program and the undergraduates affected by the project
  • Project is likely to continue in future years

Most Influential Project

  • Project reaches to a significant number of undergraduates
  • Project has elicited strong interest from undergraduates

Project organizers must submit one descriptive PowerPoint slide of their project.  The one PowerPoint slide is the organizer’s way of communicating to the adjudication committee why his or her peer program’s project deserves the prize.  The organizer can design the PowerPoint slide in any creative way.

The PowerPoint Slide must be emailed to Brian at peerprogramscelebration@gmail.com, by MARCH 26, FRIDAY, 4:30pm.  Please mention “Award” in the subject line of the email, and the following information in the email body:

Project Organizer or Organizing Team Member Names (if responsibilities were shared equally)
Peer Program
Project Title
Award being applied for
How does your project meet the criteria of the award?  (100 words max.)
Dates of Event (if applicable)
Email contact of ONE organizer

Questions?  Please email Brian at peerprogramscelebration@gmail.com if you have any questions regarding awards.  Good luck!

Awards:  Selection

A committee consisting of the Awards Coordinator, 1 other End of Year Celebration Committee member, 1 Peer Program Executive Council member, Patty Hambler, and 2 Peer Program advisors will adjudicate the submitted entries.

Winning entries will be announced at the Peer Program End of Year Celebration (5pm, April 8, at the CSI), and the organizers are expected to give a short 1-minute speech describing their project to the audience.

This event is brought to you by your Peer Programs Executive Council (PPEC) and the Advisors of all of the Peer Programs.
