Breaking Down Discrimination, Building Up Consciousness: a night of film, dialogue, and creativity

Peace It Together and CitizenU are pleased to invite you to an evening thinking, talking, and creating in new ways.We will begin with folks rotating through short film open spaces. The short films (2-5 minutes) are drawn from the film libraries of Reel Youth, Out in Schools, Access to Media, and Peace It Together. We will use interactive exercises we’ll use to unpack them will explore the impacts of discrimination on people’s lives, dreams, and futures. Then we will rejoin the large group in another activity to engage with one another to consider the intersections of these forms of discrimination and what we can do to create more equitable, diverse, peaceful, just, and vibrant cultures and communities.

We know you have lots of your own ideas, experiences, thoughts, feelings, and dreams of your own to share and we can’t wait to hear them.

Whether you are into films, dialogue, or creative activities (or all of them!), there is a space for you at this event.
You will reflect on the issues, express your perspectives and experience, and discover more about others’ perspectives.
We’ll also think about what we can do, who-ever we are (and are becoming) to create more equitable, peaceful and just communities.

Event is free! Delicious dinner provided! Bus tickets are available at event! Bring your friends! And a notebook to take notes for a meaningful reflection submission towards your Certificate of Leadership!
