Arts Peer Coaches PPEC Reps

Jon Papez – Liaison Rep

My name’s Jonathan, but I usually go by Jon. I love biking, camping and being outdoors, and I practice Aikido (a Japanese martial art) at the UBC REC. My family has a cat, a dog, and a bird, so my house is practically a zoo. My favorite games are Settlers of Catan, Dungeons and Dragons, and Mafia. I’m a third year psychology student and I’ve been volunteering with UBC’s Culture and Cognition lab for nearly two years. This year I’ll be working on an independent research project and I’m really excited to see how it goes!

Sylvia Yong – Project Rep

Hello there! My name is Sylvia Yong. I’m a 4th year Arts student en route to completing a double major in Political Science and Sociology. Apart from my academic pursuits, I love music, work part-time teaching piano, and am immensely passionate about social justice issues. I’m thrilled to be part of PPEC this year as a representative for Arts Peer Coaching – a new Peer Program committed to the success of Arts students throughout their BA journey! I look forward to working with the rest of the PPEC and Peer Programs team to make this year a fabulous one!
