Kijiji Scam Busters Advice on how to ensure a safe and clean job hunting process – advice from a professional scam hunter
Date: Tuesday, Feb 5th, 2013

Have you ever wondered if a job seems too good to be true? Do you browse classifieds and other job hunting sites, but in the end realizing that the job that you had your heart set on is actually a scam or fraud? Kijiji’s Community Relations Manager will go over tips to help you combat and catch scams and fraudulent job postings before you submit your resume!
Here’s what we will talk about:
• What a classified site is, and it’s purpose and how you can use it
• Scams and frauds that appear on job hunting sites and classifieds
• Share specific case studies and tips on how students can learn to detect them
• Preventative steps to make sure you don’t get tricked into providing sensitive information

Senior peers (1+ years of involvement with Peer Programs or other leadership roles) are invited to attend an interactive and engaging 2-workshop series on the Social Change Model (SCM) of leadership. These workshops will explore stories that highlight elements of leadership that are unconventional, thought-provoking, and may inspire you. Guest speakers and interactive activities will help you explore your own leadership strengths and potential.
Get inspired to make the most out of your leadership within Peer Programs as well as work towards positive social change!

The Premier Undergraduate Scholarships and Wesbrook Scholars are the University’s most prestigious designations given to senior students with outstanding academics, participation in sports (for some awards), and leadership and involvement in student and community activities. Awards range from 20 Wesbrook Scholar designations ($1,000 each) to renewable scholarships of $20,000 over two years (Premier Undergraduate Scholarships).
There are strict eligibility requirements which can be found on the application form. To view the entire application please see the PUS/Wesbrook website.
