The UBC-CLI provides grants to currently enrolled undergraduate students for student-led short- and medium-term initiatives that enhance student learning and contribute to the resolution of complex community-based challenges.
As a part of applying for these grants, students are invited to attend workshops on how to develop a project idea and practice delivering a project ‘pitch’.
The next grant workshop is on: Thursday November 8th |12:00-1:00pm | SCRF 204
The next proposal deadline is: Thursday November 29th (email proposals to community.learning@ubc.ca)
The next pitch session is: Thursday December 6th | 4:00-7:00pm | ANGU 435
*** Pitch sessions are open to the public and may count as a Certificate of Leadership experience as long as a reflection piece is submitted no later than 2 weeks after the experience ***
More information about the grants can be found at: http://www.students.ubc.ca/communitylearning/students/stay-engaged/grants/

The Coaches Corner in the Chapman Learning Commons is a great resource for students looking to expand on their academic skills and knowledge. Coaches are different from a tutor because rather than help you with specific course material, a coach helps you develop your “soft” skills; things like studying, note-taking techniques and exam preparation. The coach also works to find the resources and people on campus to help you further. For example, if you’re having trouble with writing, a coach may help you identify where your problem areas are and might connect you with the Writing Centre. The coaches also highlight the student toolkits, which are collections of tried and tested student tips.
We have specialized Coaches available for Science and Arts but we encourage all students to come in and have a conversation.
Find a Coach for yourself and see the difference!
Open in the Chapman Learning Commons Monday-Friday 11:00-4:00.
