Thrive is a week-long series of events focused on building positive mental health for UBC students, faculty, and staff.
From November 5–9, 2012, over 50 Thrive events and initiatives at UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses will contribute to understanding, critical thinking, and dialogue about mental health, and will help us come together as a community to celebrate the ways we can Thrive at UBC all year long.
There will also be opportunities to learn new skills and become more familiar with resources that support positive mental health.
Visit thrive.ubc.ca to find out about events you can attend as part of your Certificate of Leadership Experience. Each individual event will have different registration or drop-in information, so be sure to check out the event listing you are interested in for more information.

Consulting the Genius of Place: An Ecological Approach to a New Agriculture
by
Wes Jackson
Nov. 29th noon-2pm
Leonard S. Klinck Building
Room 200
In this eloquent and timely call to arms, Jackson asks us to look to nature itself to lead us out of the mess we’ve made. We do this by consulting with the natural ecosystems that will tell us, if we listen, what should happen to the future of food. Jackson believes the time is right to do away with monocultures, which are vulnerable to national security threats and are partly responsible for the explosion in our healthcare costs.
